Adele Silva banned from the kitchen

5 October 2007 - Adele Silva didn't cook before she signed up for 'Hell's Kitchen' because her mum would never let her in the kitchen.

The 'Emmerdale' actress, who came runner up on the reality cooking show last month, was worried she would injure herself in the kitchen because she is left-handed.

Adele's mum Sophie revealed to Hello magazine: "Adele is left-handed, and I was always too frightened to let her into the kitchen in case she cut or burned herself.

"I was scared that she'd end up cutting her hand off when she went on the show, but she only came out with a few snips.

"I'm really proud of what she's achieved."

Despite coming second, 26-year-old soap star Adele has been flooded with advertising deals worth up to £2 million and may even use the money to open a restaurant of her own.

A source said: "Several companies have come up with ideas for eateries using Adele's name. It's a chance she never thought she'd have. She is in huge demand. The world is her oyster."

Professional chef Marco Pierre White, 45, was proud of both finalists, but has a soft spot for feisty blonde Adele.

He said: "Adele has been fantastic. If she wasn't an actress she could definitely become a chef full-time. She is very focused and organised. I think she has what it takes to run her own kitchen."
