Britney snapped with prescription drugs

25 October 2007 - Troubled pop princess Britney Spears has been photographed carrying prescription drugs, as well as a parenting book.

The mum-of-two had a box of Provigil in her handbag, which is used to address the problem of daytime sleepiness, the Daily Mail reports. It can also be used to treat narcolepsy.

However, neurologist Dr Mark Milstein told Us Weekly that the prescription medication is unlikely to show up in the random drug tests which Britney must undergo, following a judge's ruling.

"Unlike a traditional stimulant with side effects such as hyperactivity and inattentiveness, the primary effect of this medication is only to help keep you from falling asleep," he explained.
"Somebody who is living a celebrity lifestyle, who frequently has to be up very early one day and then very late the next, could develop very disordered sleep patterns."
The same judge which ordered the drug tests also demanded that the Gimme More singer and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, attend parenting classes.

They are expected to complete six sessions of Parenting Without Conflict in Los Angeles.

A source close to the pop star said she was looking forward to the classes and hopes they will help her regain custody of her two sons.
