Patsy Palmer to return to Albert Square

29 October 2007 - Patsy Palmer is set to make a return to EastEnders, eight years after she left the soap.

The 35-year-old played Bianca Butcher from 1993 until 1999 and returned for a one-off episode in 2002 in which she was reunited with Sid Owen, who played her husband Ricky.

Now, Bianca will come back to Walford to live with her grandmother, Pat Evans, as her love and family life is in shambles.

Patsy told BBC News that she was "really excited about rejoining the cast and working with old friends again".

"I can't wait to explore what Bianca has been doing with her life and seeing what she is going to get up to next," she added.

Previously, the actress had vowed she would never return to the BBC soap, calling the stories "so unbelievable it's ridiculous". She seems to have had a change of heart.

Her onscreen character is famous for shouting "Rick-ay" at her husband, with whom she had a stormy relationship.

She will return with a gaggle of children fathered by other men, as well as her son Liam, fathered by Ricky.

The BBC stated that Patsy will begin filming her new scenes in January and they will be shown from the end of March.
