Keane singer challenges Kasabian to drink-off
Keane's Tom Chaplin has challenged Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno to a drinking contest after he called Tom's time in rehab a publicity stunt.
The lead singer entered rehab at the Priory in August last year to combat his alcohol and drug addiction, but the Kasabian guitarist doubted the authenticity of his problems, saying that Tom was probably "addicted to port".
Insisting he was no lightweight, the fresh-faced front man said: "Kasabian - if you pitched me into a battle to see who would get more wasted with any of those guys, I'd definitely come out the winner. Or loser, depending which way you look at it."
Tom said that his addiction to cocaine saw him getting through two grams a day, costing him about £700 a week on top of his heavy boozing.
Admitting he was "tired of life" and "pretty suicidal" the 28-year-old completed a detox course in the Priory, but revealed that he hasn't been completely clean since.
"I haven't been perfect," he said, but added that he was still "nowhere like before".
