Lily's launch receives lukewarm reception
Lily Allen was the latest celebrity to launch a high street fashion line yesterday, as New Look opened its doors to her new range.
The singer was no doubt expecting the sort of scrums which greeted Kate Moss' Topshop debut on Oxford Street the week before.
But as the New Look store on London's number one shopping street opened its doors at 10:00 BST, the crowds were absent save for a few members of the media and some curious customers.
And to rub salt in Lily's wounds, Moss repeated her Topshop triumph in the US as well, where excited shoppers queued for hours to get their hands on some of her items at New York store Barneys.
The 22-year-old daughter of comedian Keith Allen, Lily had pitched her clothing line as suitable "for everyone, not just a load of super-skinny models".
Allen and Moss have followed in the footsteps of the likes of Stella McCartney and Madonna in bringing their fashion favourites to the high street.
