Chelsy splashes the cash on Iraq-bound Harry

Prince Harry may be used to the finer things but with a tough time ahead in Iraq, his girlfriend Chelsy Davy wanted to see him off in style.

But rather than throwing a going-away party, perhaps assuming Harry's good enough at that himself, she bought him a £20,000 diamond-encrusted watch by Jacob & Co.

Described by some fashionistas as "the ultimate style statement", the exclusive designer watch has been seen on the wrists of A-list celebs such as David Beckham, Madonna and rapper P Diddy.

A source told the London Eye: "Chelsy just wanted to bring a smile to Harry's face before he went to war. It's also quite sweet as he's wanted one of those watches for quite a while now, but never actually bought one for himself."

The classic design of the watches has diamonds circling the monochrome face and tiny dials to show the time in different zones around the world.

Whether it will come in much use in the battles in the desert around Basra on Harry's six-month tour of duty remains to be seen, but as a surprise gift from a 21-year-old besotted beauty it may take some beating.
