Bald Britney sparks eBay sales
Fans of fallen star Britney Spears can make sure they are keeping bang up-to-date with her new style with a Britney doll - complete with bald head and straitjacket.
Enterprising eBayers have struggled as much as gossip columnists to keep up with the recent fast-changing life of the pop princess, but it only took a few days for users of the auction site to catch onto the controversy to try and make a sale.
The most audacious attempt at cashing in came from the Los Angeles hairdressing salon where Britney shaved off her locks, which put her hair up for sale on eBay for $1 million (£500,000).
But since then sellers have adapted their regular merchandise to reflect Britney's new image and her state of mind, including "Britney Shears" T-shirts, magnets and stickers.
One seller offered a one-off Britney doll with a shorn head, complete with a padded backdrop, which has already seen bids reaching $82 (£42).
Another creative eBay seller had some Brit Knee Hair for sale on the site for an opening sum of $1.93 (£0.98).
But Britney's reputation as a teen sensation may be staying intact despite her recent antics, as Barbie-like dolls of the singer with her long blonde locks remain popular items on the site, even if some sellers have jokingly added the tag "now with hard to find hair".
