Soap star Gemma Bissix loves her curves

3 October 2007 - Gemma Bissix, who played Clare Cunningham on Hollyoaks, has spoken out about loving her curvy figure.

The 24-year-old, who is returning to EastEnders where she started her career, told the Sun that she had lost a stone since November after "giving up beer and mayonnaise".

However, now that she is a size ten, Gemma said that she is not going to starve herself to lose more weight.

"I eat healthily and I swim loads - if I starved myself, I probably could be skinny, but I absolutely hate the idea of that," she remarked.

The actress described how she decided to leave EastEnders when she was 15 in order to finish her studies and try out alternative jobs, such as working in Marks & Spencer, as a pub manager and as an electrician.

She also said that she is making the most of her current status as a free and single girl, admitting that some guys "think I'm going to kill them and take their money" in the style of onscreen character.

Gemma was recognized at the British Soap Awards for her portrayal of evil Clare, winning Villain of the Year.
