Strictly Come Dancing Stars to get equal salaries
20 September 2007 - The stars who are set to appear on the next series of Strictly Come Dancing will all get the same fee.
Following reports of quarrels about who demands the highest amount, it has emerged that each celebrity will be paid a flat £25,000 fee. In addition, the dancers will also be rewarded with equal salaries.
A BBC source told the Sun that the decision will ensure that "everyone is on a level playing field".
"If celebrities find out someone is getting much more than them, it causes tensions. Some have kicked up a big fuss," they said.
"There are so many people who want to take part, we don't have to offer huge fees to get people to sign."
Paying the same to all involved will also help cut down on the number of "headaches" experienced by the BBC, the insider added.
After winning series two of Strictly Come Dancing, Jill Halfpenny pulled out of the 2005 Christmas special because of problems negotiating her fee.
Kelly Brook - who is set to compete on the show along with stars such as Penny Lancaster, Letitia Dean and Kate Garraway - recently stated that beauty is about "being comfortable in your own skin".
