Kerry Katona discusses bipolar disorder
31 October 2007 - Kerry Katona has spoken about her use of anti-depressants to help control her bipolar disorder.
She said that she takes Effexor every night to keep her "on a level and sane" and also denied that she currently dabbles in potentially more harmful drugs.
Her comments come after she made a peculiar appearance on GMTV, speaking with slurred language and hugging presenter Andrew Castle during an interview.
The former Atomic Kitten singer has been promoting her book, Tough Love, as well as speaking about some of the dramatic incidents of the past year.
Responding to rumours about the reason behind her erratic onscreen behaviour, Kerry told OK! she was "sick to death of all these questions coming up about me being on drugs".
"Yes, I am on drugs. It's my bipolar medication, it's nothing else, I'm pregnant for God's sake," she remarked, explaining that nervousness, dry mouth and fatigue are side effects of Effexor.
The 27-year-old added: "When I was on GMTV, I was suffering from a bit of nerves but that also was to do with the fact that I haven't done telly for so long."
Kerry is currently pregnant with her fourth child.
