Strictly Come Dancing's Kate Garraway suffers foot injury

2 October 2007 - The future of Kate Garraway as a contender to win Strictly Come Dancing could be in limbo following a foot injury.

Just days before her dancing debut, the GMTV presenter found that rehearsals for the programme gave her tendonitis.

Doctors instructed her to rest her feet and use crutches, due to tendons in her feet becoming inflamed and painful from her dance routines.

Garraway wrote in her New magazine column: "I am in so much pain. My feet just feel battered. I am really struggling."

She added that she initially did not believe how difficult the rehearsals for the dance competition would be, explaining that she thought it would involve "just poncing about in a dress".

"Obviously I feel like a fool now, as I am in so much pain. I feel like James Caan's character in the film Misery shortly after Kathy Bates has taken to him with a baseball bat," she added.

The 39-year-old's spokesperson added that previous to Strictly Come Dancing, Garraway had never taken dance classes.

Two weeks ago, the presenter - who had not cut down on her hours at GMTV - suffered a bout of food poisoning.

Garraway is married with an 18-month-old daughter, Darcey.
