Kym Ryder's pop legacy

Kym Ryder wants her daughter to be a pop star.

The 'Coronation Street' star - who shot to fame on TV singing contest 'Popstars' - says her nine-year-old daughter Emily has more musical talent than she ever had.

Kym told Britain's New! Magazine: She's amazing; she's far better at singing than I was at her age, so I have high hopes for my daughter.

The singer-turned-actress is very close to her daughter and loves taking her on shopping trips.

She said: She loves just loves clothes and shopping. We go shopping together and I can't get her out of the shops.

Kym - who also has a 12-year-old son, David - had a taste of chart success in 2001 when she was picked from 'Popstars' to be a member of the group Hear'Say.

Their first single, 'Pure and Simple', went straight to number one but their fame faded fast and Kym quit the band shortly before they split in 2002.

She has since joined the cast of ITV soap 'Coronation Street' as barmaid Michelle Connor last year.

She said: It's the best decision I've made to concentrate on my acting and I'm loving every minute of it.

The 31-year-old is married to 25-year-old actor Jack Ryder and the couple hope to have children together in the future.
