Natalie Portman is the best dressed

Closer star Natalie Portman has been deemed as the best dressed lady of 2007, according to US glossy InStyle.

Natalie beat out Charlie's Angels Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz - who placed second and third, respectively - for the honour of topping the list, which also included expectant mothers Jennifer Lopez and Cate Blanchett.

The December issue of the magazine features a glamorous photo of Natalie who also appeared in indie film Garden State and the three Star Wars prequel films - wearing a wine-coloured cocktail dress.

The magazine cited the Harvard University graduate's versatile style, intelligence, charm and strength of character as aspects that set her apart.

"Natalie Portman is one of those celebrities who has natural beauty, but she also knows what looks good on her," Katrina Szish of InStyle told celebrity insider TV show Access Hollywood.

Recently, Natalie - who has been formerly linked with Jake Gyllenhaal - has been spotted on the arm of fashion designer Nathan Bogle.

Other celebs in the InStyle top ten included Oscar winner Helen Mirren, actress and designer Penelope Cruz, Tommy Hilfiger model Joy Bryant, Factory Girl star Sienna Miller and Anne Hathaway, who turned heads in The Devil Wears Prada.
