Coronation Street's Samia Smith is a festive goddess

12 December 2007 - Samia Smith is a "domestic goddess" when it comes to Christmas.

The 'Coronation Street' star - who plays hairdresser Maria Sutherland in the ITV soap - has been busy in the kitchen in preparation for a festive feast, and has already baked her Christmas cake.

Samia told Britain's Inside Soap magazine: "I think the key to Christmas is to plan ahead. I've started doing that now. I've turned into a bit of a domestic goddess and already made my Christmas cake and everything.

"If you prepare in advance then when it comes to the day itself you can relax and enjoy yourself."

The 25-year-old actress also revealed she and her property developer husband Matthew love to gorge themselves on Christmas food.

She said: "I think everyone stuffs themselves at this time of year don't they? We love to put on a massive spread with Turkey and all the trimmings, and it wouldn't be Christmas without loads of sweets.

"I'm a bit like a little kid - I get so into the Christmas spirit, and I really can't wait this year."
