Billie Piper's call girl shame

28 September 2007 - Billie Piper has admitted that she felt "uncomfortable" with her role in new TV series Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

In an interview on This Morning, the Dr Who actress said that she was glad to be able to distance herself from the life of her prostitute character.

"I would leave work feeling slightly dirty and uncomfortable and that's how I know I couldn't be part of that world," she remarked.

"That's why I couldn't go there and disconnect and emotionally detach myself. I couldn't do that."

During the course of the ITV2 production, the 25-year-old engages in various edgy behaviours, such as participating in a ménage a trois and riding a client like a horse.

The former teen pop star explained that the programme was not trying to advocate a call girl's lifestyle but was instead "just telling one story".

Billie added that those who are not ready to "enter into that world" should steer clear of the show, but viewers who are willing to take the leap will find it "really insightful".

Recently, Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles convinced Billie to mention in a TV interview that the pair had slept together, but presenter Paul Schofield foiled their plot.
