Lucky EastEnders actors are due to get a £50,000 pay rise if the show is extended to five nights a week, according to recent reports.

The show, which has seen ratings slump over recent months, is undergoing some drastic revival measures from bosses, who think that sending out daily episodes five days a week will help bring viewers back in.

But actors working on the show will need to be paid more to film the extra episodes and top earners such as Barbara Windsor, who plays Peggy Mitchell, her on-screen son Phil played by Steve McFadden and EastEnders stalwart June Brown as Dot Branning will all get 14 per cent pay increases.

June, who recently signed a new deal to stay on at the show, will see her wages rise to £400,000, according to the Mirror.

And top earner Barbara Windsor could net £410,000 for her role on the long-running BBC soap.

However, the deal is not yet set in stone, as a spokesman told the Daily Record: "No financial contracts have been discussed at this stage. We are still in discussions about a potential fifth episode."
