Former EastEnder joins Celebrity Fame Academy
Shaun Williamson has joined Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Radio 1 presenter Colin Murray in the line-up for this year's Celebrity Fame Academy.
The BBC1 show mixes reality TV with a talent competition as celebrities hit the high notes covering well-known songs.
Contestants also get the chance to do some good as proceeds from the voting go to Comic Relief.
"I've been offered things before of a similar ilk and turned them down," said Shaun, "but this time I thought - stuff it, I love singing, I've been doing it for a long time before the acting came along, and it is for charity."
But Shaun admitted that being away from his family when inside the academy is not something he is looking forward to.
Shaun's first role on EastEnders was a short appearance as a paramedic before he got his big break as Barry Evans, a character he played for ten years.
More recently he played a parody of himself in Ricky Gervais' sitcom Extras.
