After heading to Spain to escape the fallout of her fling with her boyfriend's dad, feisty Leanne Battersby will return to the Street having become an escort girl.
The shocking storyline will be the first time a character on the show has been a prostitute.
Leanne confesses her misguided career move to her mum Janice who struggles to deal with her daughter's decision.
Leanne turned to the vice trade to make some extra cash in Spain and stands by her decision, telling a shocked Janice: "Face it mum. I'm earning loads of money and happy with what I do to get it."
Coronation Street bosses hope the racy storyline will win them ratings, an insider told the Daily Mirror, adding: "Leanne's always been a feisty and sexy girl who could fall off the rails. She cannot see anything wrong in being an escort girl - if the money is there, she's up for it."
Leanne's trip to Spain was planned to coincide with actress Jane Danson taking a break from the ITV1 show to have her first baby.
