X Factor - Rhydian Roberts' ridiculous rant

20 November 2007 - Billy Idol lookalike Rhydian Roberts threatened to quit the X Factor this week, it has been revealed.

According to the Sun, the Welsh singer had a rhyd-iculous tantrum behind the scenes because he thinks his "camp" songs and staging are making him look silly.

Rhydian has been taken under Dannii Minogue's wing and been made to sing tunes such as Go West by the Pet Shop Boys and Get The Party Started by Pink - dressed in a fur coat and silver suit.

But the classically trained star - who, like the other contestants, has little to no say in what or how they sing each week - is getting sick of the image he has been given and almost walked.

"He thinks he is being made to look like a fool with all the camp performances," a source told the newspaper. "He is simply told what to do."

Following the strop, Rhydian was given free reign to pick whatever song he likes for the next show - something that has riled other contestants.

"They say that Rhydian is being given special treatment as he is favourite to win," the source added.

Poor staging was cited as a possible factor in the reason why Alisha Bennett was booted off the show. Her final performance included rollerskaters who, according to Simon Cowell, could not actually skate.
