Gethin Jones says bye to Bruce

Strictly Come Dancing - Gethin Jones is axed

17 December 2007 - Gethin Jones was voted off 'Strictly Come Dancing' last night (16.12.07), leaving Alesha Dixon and Matt Di Angelo to battle out in the grand final.

The 'Blue Peter' presenter and his professional dance partner Camilla Dallerup were placed in the bottom two with Matt and his partner Flavia Cacace and both had to perform in the dreaded dance-off.

After each couple had danced, the four judges - Arlene Phillips, Craig Revel-Horwood, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli - had to choose the pair they wanted to save.

All of them, with the exception of Arlene, chose Matt and Flavia.

After getting the axe, Gethin - who is dating opera singer Katherine Jenkins - said: "I've had an incredible adventure and now I have some great dance moves. My friends never expected me to get past week two."

Gethin - who had been favourite to win after improving every week - came bottom of the judges' leader board after his Paso Doble and Argentine Tango routine.

The Paso Doble got a mixed reception, with Arlene saying: "At times it was not very pleasant like a Spanish omelette, at other times it was like a fine Rioja".

His Tango was more warmly received, with Bruno gushing: "Moody, dangerous, the prince of darkness you were tonight. You worked well with Camilla. You did a great job on it."

In the final, Alesha and Matt will have to perform their highest scoring ballroom and Latin dances of the series, a joint Viennese waltz, a show dance, and the "judges' choice" - a dance set to a piece of music chosen by the four experts.
