Kate Garraway's car crushed by parking officials

18 October 2007 - Strictly Come Dancing's Kate Garraway had her car crushed following the discovery that its tax disc was overdue.

It is the latest event in a string of bad luck for the 39-year-old, who is currently unable to drive due to tendonitis acquired during dance rehearsals.

Kate had left her car near her home while she was getting lifts from friends and the out-of-date tax disc was noticed by a parking warden.

The car was then clamped and taken to a car pound. One week later, because the GMTV presenter had not collected it, the vehicle was crushed.

A source told The Sun: "Kate has been in agony with tendonitis and was banned from driving by her doctor. She couldn't even walk, let alone drive.

They explained that the presenter did not realise how long her car had been at the pound, saying: "Kate is gutted. She really loved that car - it must be worth about £10,000 and there were personal items in it."

Earlier this year, Kate found herself involved in a planning row with neighbours after she built a nursery extension before the planning permission had been granted.
