Dancing On Ice - Gareth Gates won't compare himself to Chris Fountain
18 January 2008 - Gareth Gates said he doesn't want to compare himself to Chris Fountain, who is turning out to be a figure skating superstar.
Gareth, 23, said Chris, 20, may be his biggest competition on the Dancing On Ice rink, according to PinkNews.co.uk.
"We're all on the same level, although Chris is amazing," he said.
However, the singer - who has also appeared in the 2006 documentary Whatever Happened to Gareth Gates - said he should not be counted out as a potential Dancing On Ice champ in 2008.
"I'm a very competitive person and I thrive under pressure, so we'll see what happens," he said.
Gareth, a massive Torvill and Dean fan, hopes to make it to the final three in the competition as the remaining celebs are rumoured to be performing the ice dancing duo's world-famous Bolero routine, which won them an Olympic gold medal in 1984.
If rival Chris Fountain makes it to the final show, he may have to brush up on his skating trivia, as he said he inadvertently referred to the Bolero routine as "the burrito" when he first arrived at the Dancing On Ice rink.
