Hostage drama for Kerry Katona

Former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona was held captive by an armed trio in her own home during a robbery.

Kerry was locked in a room with her five-month-old daughter Heidi while the thieves forced her husband to give them a tour of their Cheshire home as they decided what to steal.

Although none of the family were harmed, the dramatic incident left Kerry "in floods of tears" and "distraught", according to her publicist Max Clifford.

"Kerry is in a terrible state," he said.

"She is a highly emotional thing who has had a lot of problems in her life and for this to happen when she was doing so well - she has got a new house, a new husband and a baby and is getting back to her old self. It was such a horrible thing to happen."

A police spokesman said the men entered the house armed with a crowbar, knives and a sledgehammer while wearing balaclavas.

Kerry and her family were locked away for half an hour before freeing themselves and raising the alarm, but not before the thieves made away with jewellery and electrical equipment worth £150,000 as well as the couple's luxury blue BMW M5 car.
