Lily Allen launches label

Lily Allen to launch record label

15th October 2007 - Lily Allen is set to launch her own record label.

The 'Smile' singer - who shot to fame with her forthright views and quirky personality which she showcased on social networking website MySpace - is hoping to find and nurture fresh British talent.

Lily's spokesman confirmed: "A record label is definitely something she is looking at."

The diminutive pop star - who recently parted ways with her management company Empire Management after her attempt to break the US failed - was also partly responsible for making 'Foundations' songstress Kate Nash a success.

A friend of Lily's said: "Lily spotted Kate Nash a while ago, and used her contacts in the industry to give her some exposure. She also encouraged Kate to use MySpace as a tool to get her music out there, and to write blogs to her fans."

The 22-year-old singer - who has just signed up to play Lydia Bennett in a spoof film version of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' - is also working on a second clothing collection for high street store New Look, is in talks for a new TV show, and was launched as the face of Braun's Satin hair straighteners last month.
