Strictly Come Dancing - Dancing saved my life says Alesha Dixon

24 December 2007 - Alesha Dixon received the best Christmas present a girl could get this weekend when she won Strictly Come Dancing.

But the year did not start out so well for the singer, who said today that dancing on the show literally saved her life.

After being dropped from her record label and discovering her now ex-husband's affair, Alesha said she "didn't see the point in living", the Daily Mail revealed.

And as her career and home life crumbled, she said she hit her lowest ever ebb.

"I just kept thinking 'what have I done to deserve this?'," she told the newspaper.

But how the tables have turned, for Alesha reportedly received around 150 calls regarding work offers the day after her triumphant win against fellow Strictly finalist Matt Di Angelo.

And she said that although her ex is now having a baby with singer Javine Hylton, she has forgiven him.

"He wished me good luck. He always told me I'd be brilliant on Strictly," the star added.

Fans will know that Alesha was previously part of hip-hop girlband Mis-Teeq until the trio split in 2005.

She then launched a solo career but it failed to light up the charts.
