Lloyd settles Miss Great Britain cheat case
10 October 2007 - Danielle Lloyd, the former Miss Great Britain and ex-Celebrity Big Brother contestant, has said that she is "relieved that it's over" having cleared her name in court.
Lloyd, who is 23, has settled her libel action after she was accused of cheating in order to become Miss Great Britain in 2006.
Allegations were made that she was romantically involved with one of the competition's judges - footballer Teddy Sheringham - but these were found to have stemmed from an inaccurate Eve magazine article.
Simon Smith, Lloyd's solicitor-advocate, said that the organisation, Miss Great Britain Ltd, is now satisfied that the comment placed in the publication was not true - there was no relationship at the time of the event taking place.
"It was a matter of importance to the claimant that this be recognised, especially by the pageant organisers who are in the best position to know whether any cheating occurred," he told the court.
Lloyd found herself at the centre of more controversy after her stint in the Celebrity Big Brother house in 2007.
She was accused of making rude remarks towards eventual winner Shilpa Shetty, but apologised for her comments once out of the house.
