Samantha Mumba: skating on thin ice

Dancing on Ice - Samantha Mumba is in trouble

21 January 2008 - Samantha Mumba has been banned from drinking while she competes in 'Dancing On Ice'.

The former pop star celebrated her 25th birthday on Saturday night (19.01.08) by splashing out £5,000 on cocktails and champagne at a London nightclub, just hours before skating on the hit ITV1 show.

However, producers had already warned all the celebrities to steer clear of the alcohol for three months as they continue their tough training.

A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Everyone was told at the beginning of training that if they wanted to succeed in the show and avoid any serious accidents they had to be fully committed to their training. And that means giving up alcohol and wild nights out. Just one night out can have a serious impact on their training."

One celebrity to have experienced the pain and danger of the ice skating is Suzanne Shaw, after she slashed her head in rehearsals.

The former Hear'say singer tripped over and while she was on the ice her professional partner Matt Evers' skates caught her head, leaving a huge cut.

A source said: "Suzanne was very shaken but it also hit home to the others that one wrong turn and they could be seriously hurt too."

TV presenter Natalie Pinkham became the second star to be voted off the show last night (20.01.08) after failing to impress the judges in her skate-off with former 'Blue Peter' star Tim Vincent.
