Bye-bye to the Wicks family

EastEnders actor Phil Daniels has said he will not renew his contract with the soap, after two years of playing Kevin Wicks.

He told the Sun that he enjoyed his time at Albert Square but wants to "move on and do other things".

Meanwhile, Daniels' decision means that the contracts of his on-screen children, played by Kellie Shirley and Matt Di Angelo, will also come to an end.

And Diane Parish, who plays his current wife Denise Wicks, will take a brief maternity leave and return after she gives birth in real life.

Kellie, who plays Carly Wicks, told the publication: "It's a shame the option on my contract hasn't been picked up, but it wouldn't feel right to remain in the Square without the rest of my family.

"I've not been able to accept work while playing Carly and I can't wait to get my teeth into others roles - but I wouldn't change a thing about my EastEnders experience."
