Big Brother Chantelle and Preston´s 2-minute divorce
22 November 2007 - 'Celebrity Big Brother' couple Chantelle Houghton and Samuel Preston ended their marriage in a quickfire divorce yesterday.
The pair ended their ten-month marriage at London's First Avenue House after Chantelle was granted a decree nisi by Judge Alistair Bassett Cross when she accused The Ordinary Boys frontman Preston of "unreasonable behaviour".
The couple met when 24-year-old Essex girl Chantelle was planted in last year's 'Celebrity Big Brother' houce as a 'fake' celebrity in January 2006. The lovebirds were engaged by April, and had a lavish wedding ceremony in August - which was featured in Britain's OK! Magazine, earning the couple £300,000.
But the pair - who earned a combined £1.8million last year through their well-publicised union - denied their relationship with just a publicity stunt, and in a statement after their split said: "We hope we can always remain friends, and still love each other. We had a whirlwind romance and were genuinely in love."
Chantelle thinks she knows why the marriage ended - because they both liked different television programmes.
She said: "He was so wrong for me and I was so wrong for him. We were like from two different planets. He loved politics and wanted to talk about it. But I know nothing about politics, it doesn't interest me at all.
"I wanted to watch 'Hollyoaks' on telly but he preferred a serious documentary. I'd go and buy Victoria Beckham's autobiography and he'd buy an educational book."
