Dannii Minogue

X Factor - Dannii Minogue is no pushover

11 December 2007 - Dannii Minogue has spoken out how she was perceived when she joined the judging panel on X Factor.

Speaking to Weekend magazine, the Aussie pop singer said Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh seemed to think she would be a wallflower.

"They came up to me and they said, full on, 'you're a young pretty girl, kind of dumb, you'll just sit there saying oh, I love everything, aren't you nice'," she revealed, according to Now.

But Dannii was determined to prove that she had been hired for a reason and has turned out to be a fair but firm mentor.

She added that although Louis and Sharon had their own ideas about what kind of person she was, Simon Cowell could see otherwise and she has credited him with making 2007 a good year for her professional development.

"Simon could have asked anyone, but he chose me," she concluded.

Both Dannii and Simon are the only mentors with acts left in the competition. Dannii is in charge of classically-trained Rhydian Roberts and teenage sensation Leon Jackson, while Simon is representing brother-sister pop duo Same Difference.
