Charlotte Gainsbourg recovering from brain surgery
7 September 2007- French actress and singer Charlotte Gainsbourg is safely recovering from brain surgery, according to a Paris clinic.
The 36-year-old The Science of Sleep actress underwent surgery to treat a brain haemorrhage caused by a blow to the head.
Her agent Dominique Segall said in a statement: "Charlotte Gainsbourg had a small operation today to repair a haemorrhage. The operation went very well. She is coming out of hospital tomorrow."
Charlotte, the daughter of legendary French singer Serge Gainsbourg and cult English actress Jane Birkin, was recovering and in "excellent" condition, the Monceau Clinic said.
Prior to the surgery, she had been suffering from headaches after being involved in a waterskiing accident several months ago in the US.
The actress has appeared in dozens of films, including 21 Grams, Golden Door and Jane Eyre.
Earlier this week, she made an appearance at the Venice Film Festival, where her new movie I'm Not There was screening.
I'm Not There is a biopic of Bob Dylan, directed by Todd Haynes, in which folk music icon Bob Dylan is played by several different actors - including Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Cate Blanchett.
