Peter Andre: I'm not dead
Pop star Peter Andre has had to confirm he is still alive after internet rumours started circulating that he had died of meningitis.
The Mysterious Girl singer is currently fighting the disease in hospital, but reports of his demise were greatly exaggerated.
A statement approved by Peter said: "There has been a disgusting rumour circulating the Peter Andre has died. This is not true. Peter is feeling slightly better."
Some 30,000 fans had left messages of condolence on the singer's website before the rumour was denied.
Peter has been a patient at East Surrey hospital for ten days after contracting viral meningitis, an infection of fluid in the spinal cord.
He was reportedly so ill that he was unable to tell that his wife Katie Price, also known as Jordan, was by his side.
"He's really poorly and is usually sleeping or drifting in and out," his wife said earlier this week.
"Once I went in and he did not even know I was there. I'm checking on him all day, calling the hospital and then every night I take him a towel in so he can smell home."
