Soapstar Superstars split up

8 October 2007 - Emmerdale's Roxanne Pallett and ex-Coronation Street star Richard Fleeshman have ended their relationship, it has emerged.

Hectic work schedules and a few too many miles between the two have been blamed for the split, which is thought to have been initiated by Pallett, who plays Jo Stiles in the Yorkshire soap.

Fleeshman, who played the part of troubled teen Craig Harris in Coronation Street before departing to focus on other opportunities, has begun to concentrate on his singing career by travelling to London more, making it increasingly difficult for the couple to see each other.

"We can confirm Roxanne is no longer dating Richard due to manic work schedules and the long distance involved," a spokesman for Emmerdale said.

Pallett and Fleeshman met while taking part in celebrity singing contest Soapstar Superstar last year.

Fleeshman took the top spot in the 2006 series, with Pallett achieving fourth place behind Andy Whyment (Coronation Street's Kirk Sutherland) and Lucy Pargeter (Emmerdale's Chastity Dingle).

The latest series saw Antony Cotton, otherwise known as Sean Tully in Coronation Street, voted into first place. The show is not expected to return for a third time in 2008.
