Lily Allen

Lily in pop quit threat

Singer Lily Allen is reportedly planning to leave the limelight and quit pop stardom just a year after hitting the big time.

The 21-year-old, who has already released a number of chart-topping singles, launched her own fashion line and toured America in her short career, has said she would rather settle down and be a housewife.

In a TV documentary filmed during her turbulent US tour, she said the pop lifestyle was "not something I want to be doing for 15 years".

Instead Lily says she wants "to get married and have children and move to the countryside - I don't want to be a pop star forever".

Later on her American tour, Lily cancelled a string of shows claiming to be exhausted by her heavy schedule.

However, she has recently got back to playing live and performed at the Princess Diana memorial concert at Wembley Stadium.

But if she steps back from performing on such large stages in front of the world, Lily is concerned she might miss all the attention.

She said: "It depends. If I end up wheeling a trolley around London with lots of empty plastic bags in it I'll probably think, 'I wish I'd played that better'."

The full Lily documentary entitled Lily Allen: Still Alright? Will be screened on Channel 4 on July 15th.
