The One and Only - Graham Norton pledges support for charity
29 January 2008 - Graham Norton has promised his support for an initiative in support of the Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS).
An exclusive celebration was recently hosted by the host of The One and Only, with a range of special guests at the event that marked the launch of Party for Parkinson's, a new fundraising scheme from the PDS that hopes to raise at least £100,000 during 2008.
Kent Online reports that two of the 50 special guests at the party were Martin and Meryl Hurst of Style Close, Rainham, a couple who are currently in training for a five-day trek to support the PDS.
The couple has already raised £4,176 in sponsors and are arranging an event at their home to get another £200-300.
Graham Norton said: "I am delighted to be supporting the Party for Parkinson's initiative."
"It is a fantastic way of having fun and raising money for an important cause at the same time."
Norton, whose father had Parkinson's disease, has hosted a number of successful TV shows in recent years after his turn as a co-presenter on the saucy Carnal Knowledge, including the Graham Norton Show and Eurovision Dance Contest.
