Jim McDonald to make Corrie return
4 October 2007 - Coronation Street character Jim McDonald is reportedly set to return to the soap, it has emerged.
According to the Daily Mirror, actor Charlie Lawson will soon return to portray the Northern Irishman.
Producers have been circulating a picture of the 48-year-old actor backstage above a cautionary statement which proclaims: "He's Back!"
"It's as if people are being given a warning he's about to descend on them. Mind you, Charlie is no stranger to controversy and will probably have a chuckle when he hears about it," a source told the publication.
Lawson was fired from his role on Coronation Street in 2000 amid rumours that he did not get on with some of his co-stars.
Meanwhile, his onscreen persona was sent to prison after local drug dealer Jez Quigley died in hospital following a beating by Jim.
Jim was sentenced to eight years behind bars, but broke out of prison briefly in 2003 because he was afraid wife Liz was cheating on him with a pub manager in Blackpool.
Now, he is supposedly being released for good behaviour, which may come as a shock to Liz - now his ex-wife - who is planning to marry Vernon Tomlin.
