Dancing On Ice - Gareth Gates is missing his spray tans
25 January 2008 - Gareth Gates said he is missing his bronzed appearance after ITV bosses issued a tan ban for the singer.
Last week, a Dancing On Ice insider told the Sun that Gareth looked like he had "been Tangoed" by overdoing it with spray tans, but the former Pop Idol runner-up said today that his tans made him look "so much healthier".
Speaking on GMTV, Gareth claimed producers on the show said he was "looking like an Oompa Loompa" and would have to spend some time away from the tanning salon.
"I really didn't want to though," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.
According to the Sun, some of the show's other male contestants - including actor Chris Fountain of Hollyoaks fame and professional tennis player Greg Rusedski - were sent out for a tan on the morning of the premiere episode of the competition.
Although he is missing his sun-kissed glow, Gareth seemed to be more concerned about fellow contestant Michael Underwood, who had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice after he broke his ankle in rehearsal earlier this week.
"It just proves how dangerous it is," he said.
