Baby News - Charlotte Church names her baby Ruby
24 September 2007 - Ruby Megan Henson is the name of Welsh singer Charlotte Church's new baby girl, it has been revealed.
The name was made known via a post by the webmaster on the singer and chat show host's official website.
Church's boyfriend Gavin Henson, who plays international rugby for Wales and is famous for his individual hairstyle choices, is the father of the little girl.
According to the information issued on the website, the mother and baby are doing well following the birth late last week.
Ruby arrived into the world at the couple's south Wales farmhouse in St Brides Major, in the Vale of Glamorgan.
"I've just been chatting to Charlotte this morning and she told me that she and Gavin have chosen the name Ruby for their baby daughter," the web post read.
"Ruby was born at 22.35 BST last Thursday and weighed in at six pounds 12 ounces, exactly the same weight that Charlotte was when she was born."
Church came to prominence as a teenage opera singer in the 1990s, but has since moved into pop music.
Her hit singles include Crazy Chick and Call My Name, which both reached the UK charts' top ten.
