Diaz defends her 'lovely' princess
Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz thinks the ogre character she voices in the animated Shrek films is "lovely", no matter what the critics think.
While promoting the third movie in the series, the Charlie's Angels star has often been taken aback by interviewers who call her Princess Fiona character "ugly" as she sees her as a "beautiful princess".
"It's shocking to me that that's the perception, just because she's big and round," she said.
"I think she's lovely. I love that she is a princess who isn't like all the other princesses."
Cameron added that she believes that, despite Princess Fiona's looks, she is "just as beloved and accepted" by the film's fans.
Shrek The Third sees the return of fan favourites Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers), Antonio Banaderas' Puss in Boots and Eddie Murphy's Donkey and chronicles the odd trio's attempts to find a suitable heir to the kingdom of Far, Far Away.
Films fans should look out for the movie hitting the big screens around the country soon after its UK premiere next month.
