Damon sparks old Oasis feud
Former Blur front man Damon Albarn has hit out at Oasis for appearing at the Brit Awards in an outburst reminiscent of the mid-90s Britpop chart wars.
Oasis were awarded the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at last month's ceremony, but, in an interview with the NME, Damon said that he could not understand why the band agreed to receiving the award as their contribution to music was already obvious.
"They're certainly better than Sting, so why put yourself in a position when you're putting yourself into a lineage following him? I don't understand it."
Sting won the Outstanding Contribution To Music award in 2002.
Despite Noel Gallagher recently admitting that he liked Albarn's new band The Good, The Band and The Queen, Damon is apparently still unwilling to forgive and forget.
"I can't make it up with Noel," he said.
"Britpop would be over and heaven forbid that we'd ever admit we'd all grown up! Britpop still reigns supreme over Britain as a musical force and will do until Blur and Oasis split."
