X Factor - Rhydian Roberts signs up with Simon Cowell
20 December 2007 - 'The X Factor' loser Rhydian Roberts has signed a record deal with Simon Cowell for £1 million.
The Welsh baritone singer lost to Leon Jackson by 1% in the final of the show on Saturday (15.12.07) but showed he still has what it takes to make it in the music industry by signing the exclusive deal with 'The X Factor' judge and music mogul Simon Cowell.
A source close to the singer told Britain's The Star newspaper: "Rhydian is thrilled to have got a record deal. He knew he would get something out of appearing on 'The X Factor'.
"Simon told him he really has the potential to go far in the industry."
Meanwhile, following the controversy about the voting lines being rigged, Rhydian was voted the winner in a new poll by Britain's The Sun newspaper.
In the survey, Welsh Rhydian recieved 14,892 votes compared to Leon's 5,535.
ITV are insisting Leon won by 10% in the final show, and Rhydian's mother, Angela, is asking Britain to move on from the voting scandal.
She said: "We just want to draw a line under this. I want the nation to let it go and move on."
