The One and Only - Graham Norton to host mobile awards

22 January 2008 - Presenter and comedian Graham Norton will be the host of the Global Mobile Awards in Barcelona next month, it has emerged.

The presenter of BBC One's reality tribute act competition The One and Only will take to the stage in Spain for the ceremony, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of mobile communications around the world.

Categories for prizes at the ceremony include a variety of mobile entertainment - video, music and games - as well as mobile advertising and top honours for the year's best mobile handset.

Cheeky Graham - who has previously fronted Strictly Dance Fever, Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria - will hand out the awards during a gala dinner on February 12th.

The four-time Bafta winner's appearance at the awards ceremony marks part of a four-day event in the Spanish city - the Mobile World Congress.

Meanwhile, Norton's current reality program has been criticised by a number of other tribute acts - including a Meat Loaf impersonator from Bolton - for being insulting to other professionals in the industry.

However, Emily Clark, a member of tribute act Girls Alouder, told the Guardian that her group always receives an enthusiastic reaction from the audience when they perform live.
