Former EasterEnder actress Tamzin Outhwaite plans family
7 September 2007 - Former EasterEnder actress Tamzin Outhwaite has said she is taking time off from television to start a family.
The star told the Sun that she and actor husband Tom Ellis are eager to hear the patter of little feet, but they are not working on a particular timescale.
"We're thinking about kids. But I don't know if it will be soon. We're leaving it in the hands of someone bigger than us," she said.
However, the 36-year-old, who played Melanie Owen on the BBC1 soap, did admit that she would consider returning to Albert Square because it is "a good thing to do if you've got children".
"I wouldn't see it as a failure to go back to EastEnders. There is a misconception that if people go back to things then their career hasn't worked," she added.
Tamzin arrived on the show in October 1998 and was part of several dramatic storylines. She left in March 2002, after Martin Kemp - who played her character's husband - departed the soap.
The actress has recently teamed up with BBC green living expert Joanna Yarrow and newscaster Trevor McDonald to launch Future Friendly, an inspirational sustainable living campaign.
