Strictly Come Dancing - I feel stupidly happy says Matt Di Angelo

19 December 2007 - Matt Di Angelo has expressed his sheer delight at winning a place in the Strictly Come Dancing final.

After Gethin Jones was recently knocked out at the semi-final stage, Matt and partner Flavia Cacace found themselves facing Alesha Dixon and Matthew Cutler in the last round of the competition.

Matt told the official BBC website he was "stupidly happy" at the achievement and said surviving the semi-final "felt so good".

"It was like being on cloud nine, it was ecstasy," the EastEnders star added. "It couldn't have gone any better."

However, he revealed that he had made a mistake early on in the Argentine Tango but got back in the rhythm straight afterwards because he felt he could not give up.

"I texted Flavia the next day to say 'Flavia, did we really do it?' We've won, even if we come second."

The final will see both couples performing their favourite ballroom and Latin routines of the series, in addition to a Viennese waltz, a show dance and one in the category of "judge's choice".

As well as the last show in the series, fans can also catch a Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special which is scheduled to air over the festive season.
