Richard and Judy to quit show
2 November 2007 - Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan are set to say goodbye to their popular Channel 4 chat show, the pair have announced.
The married duo said they will leave the teatime programme when their contract ends in 2008, after two decades of presenting live daily shows together.
Richard explained that "the programme is still full of life, but we have taken the difficult decision to leave it on a high".
"After seven consecutive years we both feel we have achieved everything we wanted with the show," he added.
The 51-year-old explained that both he and his wife would like the opportunity to explore other creative projects in broadcasting and writing "while we are still young enough" to do so.
Richard and Judy met in 1982 while both were working for Granada TV and married in 1986.
Two years later, they began hosting ITV's This Morning. After 13 years, they moved to Channel 4 in 2001.
The two will finish their stint by presenting two more series of their show, as well as a Richard & Judy's Christmas Books special in December.
They have also discussed fronting various specials and a spin-off series relating to their book club.
