Matt Di Angelo injures knee
26 September 2007 - Strictly Come Dancing contestant Matt Di Angelo received medical treatment after suffering an accident during rehearsals.
The EastEnders star tore his knee ligaments and had to receive emergency treatment, which has delayed his practice schedule.
"One minute I was dancing and all of a sudden I was in pain. I pulled some ligaments in my leg and I've had to have physio," he told TV Biz.
Di Angelo said that he has been prohibited from practicing his dance moves for three days, a ban which he called "annoying".
"We've been doing four hours a day [of rehearsals] and it's really, really difficult. It makes EastEnders look easy," he remarked.
The 20-year-old also complained that fellow contestant Kelly Brook had been receiving the lion's share of press surrounding Strictly Come Dancing.
He said that it is likely that the model will win the show, but added that "Alesha Dixon and Gethin Jones are dark horses" and should not be counted out of the running.
Di Angelo was recently told that his EastEnders character, Deano Wicks, will be cut from the soap following the departure of his onscreen father Kevin (Phil Daniels) and sister Carly (Kellie Shirley).
