Christopher Biggins´ uncivil slam

I'm A Celebrity - Christopher Biggins' civil uncertainty

4 December 2007 - 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' winner Christopher Biggins has slammed civil partnerships, despite being in one himself.

The jungle king entered into a civil partnership with his long-term partner, air steward Neil Twimaps, in 2006, despite saying in the past that the legal links make a "mockery of marriage".

Christopher previously told Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "Marriage, in my view, should always be reserved for the union between a man and a woman - primarily for the purpose of bringing up a family.

"To go one step further and elevate partnerships into the status of marriage would make a mockery of an institution which, for all its faults, has served society well for many centuries."

A spokesman for the pantomime veteran - who beat Janice Dickinson and Jason 'J' Brown to be crowned king of the jungle on Friday (30.11.07) - said: "He didn't mean to say he disapproved of them. He was just pointing out they aren't the same as a marriage."

Christopher was also married to Beatrice Norbury for two years in 1971, before he came out as gay.
