Dancing on Ice - Celeb contestants revealed

7 January 2008 - With their under-wraps training now over, the contestants for this year's edition of Dancing of Ice have been unveiled.

Among the 12 celebrities are talent show veterans, Gareth Gates - who was the runner-up in the first series of Pop Idol - and Suzanne Shaw, a singer in Hear'Say, the group formed through the successful Popstars show.

Also from the world of pop is singer and actress Samantha Mumba, who had a hit with the David Bowie-sampling Body II Body in 2000 before going on to star in sci-fi flick The Time Machine.

Sportsmen featuring on this year's show include tennis player Greg Rusedski and former Commonwealth and European javelin champion Steve Backley.

Making up the numbers are television presenters Aggie Mackenzie, Michael Underwood, Natalie Pinkham, Sarah Greene and Tim Vincent, Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain and former Page Three model Linda Lusardi.

The Daily Mail claims that the tension could be running high ahead of the official start of the contest, with reports that some contestants will receive fees around three times larger than some of their opponents.

Whatever the financial rewards, the stars will be looking to emulate actress Gaynor Faye who won the first series of the show in 2006 and the nimble-footed rugby player Kyran Bracken last year.
