Kylie earns £4.5M in year away from music biz
Aussie pop star Kylie Minogue still managed to rake in £4.5 million in 2005, despite taking the year off to fight breast cancer.
This was a doubling of the pint-sized singer's income of the previous year and includes a salary of £1.85 million, expenses of £42,366 and earnings through advertising deals and other sources of £2.63 million, according to accounts of Kylie's company Darenote.
An unnamed financial expert told the Daily Mirror: "It is testimony to her amazing popularity that her finances remained in such good shape despite the well-publicised problems with her health."
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005, Kylie pulled out of an appearance at Glastonbury and cancelled a tour of her homeland in order to aid her recovery.
But since successfully beating the cancer she has been back performing live and completed her Oz tour and played a number of shows in the UK.
And she is soon to star in this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, which is to start filming in Cardiff next month, in which she will play a waitress on the doomed Titanic cruise ship.
