Shakira asks for pre-nup
Pop star Shakira has reportedly asked her fiancé to sign a pre-nuptial agreement to protect her assets in case they split up.
The Colombian singer has been engaged to Antonio De La Rua, the son of a former Argentine president, for six years and the couple are expected to wed in September.
But Shakira is asking Antonio to sign away any claim he might have on her fortune, should they divorce.
However, she did not reach the decision alone, with Argentinean newspaper Clarin reporting: "When you're very much in love you have plenty of people giving you advice and none of them want to see what happened to Paul McCartney happen to her."
Despite following the celebrity pre-nup trend and asking for protection against divorce losses, Shakira is fully committed to her relationship and is said to be planning a family of her own, with Clarin claiming: "When she was on tour in Buenos Aires she also said that her wishes to become a mother are getting more and more intense."
This follows her recent show of maternal compassion with an announcement that she would be involved in a campaign to fight child poverty in Latin America.
